Default Regarding Longacre Hot Laptimer

Purchased one and was wondering where would the receiver portion be placed? Now I understand the receiver has to be direct view of transmitter so does that mean can't be placed behind side rear window? Thanks. Mike

Behind the rear side window is fine.

Thanks JimB. Well how's your car doing? Last time I remember is car is on the mend and what came of the engine choice? Did you go with the 3.6 or retained the 3.4. Regards. Mike

Hi Mike,
The car's coming along pretty well. I decided to update to a 3.6L x51 which should be great but hasn't been without a few challenges. My goal is to shake it down at our first DE on April 23,24,25 and then head to Las Vegas for the Club Race the following weekend. A lot of things need to fall into place to make this schedule but so far so good.

How are you going to mount your receiver? I've seen it done a lot of different ways including duct taped to the trunk of a Z06. If you have a rollbar or harness bar you can mount it to the bar in such a way that it can be rotated to point out the opposite window. Most of the time the transmitter gets set up on the driver's side but occasionally it ends up on the other.

If you don't have a bar, I've seen radar detector windshield mounts used on the side window.

Good luck.
Jim

Sounds really sweet with the 3.6 X51 motor-was the Egas retrofit thing one of the challenges : ) or found a way around it?. I hear ya on engine swaps-alot of time and money and patience. I have a harness bar with a camera mount so if it's no issue with window just mount on the swivel camera mount. Please kepp me updated on your car-it's stunning first time I saw pics of it : ). Regards. Mike

Actually egas was easy. The throttle body on my 3.4 was identical to the 3.6 so we just swapped them. We also swapped the harness off of the 3.4 with no problems. The issues are more with the computer. The 3.6 computer has numerous security sensors that make it difficult to use on an earlier car.

Thanks for the compliments on my car. It's in the body shop this week getting new rear quarters and new paint. I had already replaced the front fenders, both doors, the front bumper cover, etc. I can't wait to see it looking "right" again.

By this time next week they should have the new engine and tranny in and, with any luck, have it running.

So JimB-will the new configuration be throttle cable actuated or e-throttle? Man I can see it now- after all is done and your baby is perfect it's like "BABY IS BACK WITH A VENGENCE". Regards. Mike
