Cobalt Blue 996 on BAT
So it brought in $32k plus buyers fee - prob $34k. I am thinking of 3 possible scenarios:
- There was so much hype in the 996 market about this car that it scared people off.
- There are only so many buyers for non 40AE, non C4s , non Turbo's and recently 2 others had sold for mid 30's effectively drying the market up
- The NA market is dictated by the 40AE's... where you get LSD, Carera GT color, genuine and numbered exclusivity etc etc etc that skittles colors will always fetch less
- All of the above.

I think it's a mix of 2 and 3, for me. I'd also add in cars with the Aero package which I think will also fetch a premium. I actually tend to like the .1 aero cars more than .2, from a visual perspective.

4- I solidly expected this to go between the recent $35k black on blacks and a $39k-$42k value 40AE. I think that some people get focused on WB C4S and miss out on the value that a 40AE provides, which works out for buyers since the 40AE is more limited than C4S.

Just a regular spec 996 that had a color a lot of folks can't see themselves driving. It's why they are limited, Porsche knew that.
I think as far as the 40 AE, most folks could care less about the extra performance goodies. I doubt when one compares the two, they say what a difference. They were both fast for their time, one a tick faster. I think Porsche should have done a better job making the car more unique compared to the base, maybe a ducktail or something. Just my opinion. The 4S has the hips and the rear panel, it just looks different. Your not talking a whole lot either like 16k coupes and 24k total.

This was my car! I used it as my daily driver and made a lot of great memories with it. I took the car to the top of Mt Washington, did donuts in the snow, took drives with the family just because we could, and enjoyed all of it. However, I’m getting ready to start deploying again and I needed something more practical and that wouldn’t be a hassle for my wife while I’m gone. I traded the 911 in on a Toyota 4Runner but wish I had listed it for sale on BaT instead as it seems to have done well. I’ve told my wife that I’ll have another 911 in the future but I think my kids need to be grown first; we had car seats back there but it wasn’t really comfortable for anybody with all four of us. God bless to all of you here, and I hope to be back with an FSI build in the future.

That was YOUR car!!!
Wow! I hope you were pleased with the outcome and the love everyone showed for your car.
I think Greg at FF6 is a very knowledgeable guy and a pleasure to deal with. Compare to the other recent outliers in the 996 market (mid to high 30’s) yours will be the one to really gain value.
people that have been watching these cars for years say that the 3 attributes to look out for are:
these are all complimentary and yours definitely had all 3 going for it. Wish I was cashed up for it.
