Question high freq hum ?

I've hooked an iPOD to the AUX input of the CDR-220 head unit. Works fine.

I bought the iPOD car charger (made by Belkin) and during quiet passages there is a hum (only there when the charger is connected). I can minimize it by turning the iPOD volume out to max, allowing the CDR-220 to be a lower level (typically volume ranges from +15 to +25 depending on my mood).

I assume that this is caused by alternator noise induced into electrical system.

Does anyone know anyway to filter it out? Anyone else have this problem?

Thanks!

I have this same problem - have taken to bypassing the belkin unit until I find a solution. Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Only thing I can think of is a line conditioner, but I don't know if they make one small enough for this application

Radio shack sells a ground loop isolator for less than $20. I just installed it and it seems to work. We'll see if it does tomorrow. Ed

I saw the link in the other thread to the Radio Shack ground loop isolator. Thanks.
Is there a product that filters the power side, rather than the signal side. Intuitively, it seems better to filter the noise before it gets into the music.
Thoughts?

I think so. Radio shack had a larger unit that had power-lead looking wires on it for CBs, Ham Radio etc. It was also about $20. Same section.

Still getting the hum sometimes with the isolator - will probably try the power-side filter.
