996 and a pick-up truck anyone?

I don't tow my 996 but a truck comes in real handy for household projects and hauling wheels, tires, parts around. My 2021 Sierra Denali 3.0L I6 turbo diesel.

Post retirement income is much less than pre-retirement income. So we purchased a 2012 Toyota Tundra 2WD with 300,000 KM on the odo. It still runs and drives. It is what it is.

2009 Honda Ridgeline with 330,000 kms. I spend more on my 996 each year than I have in total in 12 years of ownership of the Ridgeline (not that that is a bad thing )

I was on the same boat as you last year. I had a 2016 BMW 535i, '08 Suburban Z71, and my 996. I decided to get rid of the BMW and the Suburban in favor of a 2020 F-150 Super Crew Lariat FX4. My recommendation would be to buy the nicest truck you can afford. Having all the new tech and and plush interior made it an acceptable replacement for both those cars. I miss daily driving the 535i but the truck gives me a greater appreciation for my 996 in terms of driving experience.

How was it towing with that setup? We have a 2017 4Runner limited I’m considering using to tow the 911 across country. Was looking at picking up a used lightweight trailex aluminum trailer to stay under the 5k lbs tow rating of the runner.

Got the 4Runner after the 996 was stored for winter. Also looking at getting a lightweight trailer to use the 4Runner to tow my 993.

Handled the extra load great. Only had it on the highway for a few miles, and doubt I broke 65, so not sure about doing it cross country.

1998 Ford Ranger with 140k miles. SuperCab, 4x4, manual everything (transmission, locks, windows). Purchased used in 2002 with 65k on it. First vehicle I ever bought and have kept it through MANY cars.

1999 C2 and 2001 Ford F-350 crewcab,4x4, 7.3 Powerstroke diesel. I have owned the truck for almost 20 years, bought with 29,000 miles. Now 244,xxx on it. Just changed the oil today. My wife and I were planning on upgrading the truck when I retire, but, I am not sure I want to do that. It is a good truck. The 944 has a new home.
I use the F250 to tow the 911 to the track. That way I know I have a ride home!

@pauldvazquez Very nice! Let me know if you actually do want to sell the truck. I've been looking for an OBS 7.3, but all the ones I've seen here have been worked very hard. I would 100% be interested if you do decide to get rid of it. I'm just a bit north of you
I have my V8 4Runner as my tow vehicle for now. Haven't actually towed the 911's yet because I don't have space to store a trailer, so I may just have to go the UHaul route.

Bought my 04 Ram 1500 in 08 and it's been very dependable and trouble free...Wife drive it daily since the 996 arrived.
