Default 996 C4 Leather Boot Replacement

All - Looking to upgrade my OEM integrated leather/aluminum 6-speed shifter **** + boot with a shifter **** that requires a separate leather boot. Does anyone have any experience with these? Or any other recommendations? Want to make sure the leather is high quality:

Function First makes a great shift **** that uses the existing boot. I really like the extra weight of the solid aluminum ****.

I've ordered from Redlinegoods, but not for 911. Very good quality at a reasonable price.

I ordered a few - initially the RedlineGoods one linked above as was located in US, but the boot is actually made in Europe which caused a significant delay. Ended up cancelling the order. If the wait isn't an issue, I've generally heard good things about their products.

Ordered one off Etsy - description said "leather" but ended up being PU leather when it arrived. Returned that.

Ended up ordering off Ebay from "J-F Customs". Based in the UK, but wasn't a significant delay.

Feels like good quality. Got a replacement trim ring to mount it.

But stock size ended up being a bit short. Guess this will depend on the shift **** used.

They truly are a custom shop. Asked them to make one 2" longer:

Much happier with this fit. Folded over itself. Could've gone 1" taller and just left the finished edge without folding over also.

I have a shift **** problem...

I've got the Function First shifter as well - I really like it (the Aluminum ****) but it gets damn cold in the winter... I just switched out the **** to a black Delrin one with Aluminum/Silver fill in the shift pattern and equator groove... Warms up really quickly - no gloves necessary!

Nice looking wood shifters from Manuel! I have a similar one. How does your new boot attach to the ****, is it zip tied? I'm considering ordering a new custom boot that will fit more flush to the bottom of my ****. I have a 997, and currently have the stock boot zip tied to the groove on ****.

ManM - Dig the black and white shifter ****. Where'd you pick that up?

ewc - it's a tight fit, so no zip tie. The top of the J-F boot has a finished edge, so If I'd gotten it made a little shorter (1" longer instead of 2") could've left it without folding it over. Good looking shift **** - like the way the metal extends into the ****. Where is that one from?

This was one of the first things I did when I got my 911. I used them before when I had to replace the shifter boot on my 2000 jetta and was very pleased with the quality. That was at least 5-6 years ago and it has held up just fine. Very satisfied with how both came out.

I have a Redline one coming hopefully soon in Napa leather with deviated yellow stitching along with a replacement ebrake covering. I'll post pics once it arrives.

I used Redline also, good quality, did take a while to receive the boot. I believe it came from Poland.

Thanks, mine was also from Manuel, but I asked him for more custom work to extend the aluminum higher, and thin the shaft a bit more vs your version, to try to get it closer to the Carrera GT ****.

I think he came really close, and now it’s just the boot connection that needs to be smoothed out.
