03 996 C2 Cabriolet pricing
A friend is looking to buy a new 04 C2 Cabrio. Sticker is at $93+K list.
Because he is buying from a local dealer who has to make a trade with the original ordering dealer, I think his price is still a little high.
Price he is getting is 88K plus tax and paper work.
OK? Still high? Buy it and run?

In this economy dealers are quick to apply a 5% discount off of MSRP, and that is probably their low threshold during the Spring selling season (I figure their margin at MSRP is approx 15% to 17%). So, at $88K, it looks like your friend is doing a little better than par. Obviously, dealers will get more aggressive with their discounts during end of season inventory reductions.
Consider this... I was able to take delivery last month of an '02 C2 Cab w/ less than 4,000 miles for $30K off of an original MSRP of $95K. The only downside is that the factory warantee is closer to two years versus the four years of a new 911.
The deals are out their for the savvy, just check DupontRegistry dot com, e-bay motors, etc.

I was able to get 10% off MSRP on my new 03 cab in January last year. I think if you are willing to take a car in stock and walk-away from the deal, then you may be able to get at least 7% off MSRP on a new model.

I got my 03 cab for $68,000 new off the truck. It stickered for $82,000. Triple Black. I purchased it in Sept 03. You have to spend days negotiating the deal. I wont lose much on this car if I keep it pristine which I plan to do. See my pics on my attached URL.

Fun you say that = I got my 03 Targa Black on Black with my options (listed on my profile) for 69K and change - I just let the dealer sweat a bit, after I told him I wasn't really that interested in the Targa (When I really was) I used my best poker face and it worked.

cabman, how the hell did you buy a brand new 03 for less than most used 02's are going for? granted with a sticker of 82K it's probably pretty well stripped, but even so....that's an amazing deal.

Your friend is looking to buy a car that will be replaced with a new model by year end. Not that its a bad deal, but I bet they can go lower. Have him tell the dealer that he just might wait for the 997

Hi All:
I went at the end of Sept 03. Summer was over and the cabs coming off the truck were not sold, they were sitting in HBL's lot. He also had a bunch of C2's, lots of Cayennes, and one turbo cab.
He worked with me from friday to sunday on making the deal. I played Arlington Porsche and HBL against each other and after some finessing,, I couldnt believe they made the deal.
Arlington Porsche told me,, HBL will "NEVER" sell a new Cab off the truckin the high $60's (they were at $72K for a similiar car),, well , I called Pat Driscoll at HBL in front of Arlington Porsche, and Arlington lowered their price $1500,,, well,, on and on,,, and HBL said,,, $68,000 plus sales tax of 3.5%,, that was it. Arlington said,, they dont believe it,, but if true they would go buy it... So off I went. Pat Driscoll kept his word,, A very honest man. I will always deal with him.
I had a beautiful 1995 C2, bought at Tisher (MD) for $55,800 (winter, snow storm of 95) and sold it 3 yrs later for $53,500. Love the way they hold their values!!!!
Anyway guys: I never listen to a stereo or CD or talk when driving, I love the sound of that magnifco engine purring.... I dont need heated seats, I am moving to sunny Fl. I dont do power seats. I like cloth but put up with the Porsche Leather,,,,,,,, anyway,, to me,, this car is loaded!!! The standard stuff to me is so much more than I would ever want. I am an RS kind of guy who would be happy with roll up windows and cloth door pulls. I hate cup holders, I have them but wont let anyone show me how they work. I have A/C and prob will hardly use it. Well, In Fl I will!!
I have nice special 18 inch wheels tho which are a necessity.
I will drive this black cab for 3.5 yrs and I guaranty I will sell it for $63K or more if I keep the miles to 3,000 a yr. I still preport, overall the Porsche is the cheapest car on the road to drive. Buy anything else for $56K and drive it 3 yrs and try selling it for $53.... Never happen with another brand of car.
My 3rd Porsche will be a 997 turbo in 2007.
You all have a nice weekend,,, Don aka Cabman
