Default running catless

looking to improve exhaust flow but dont want to sacrifice quiet (stock look) for performance. was wondering what your opinions were on cat bypass pipes while retaining the stock mufflers, or possibly a similar combination of catless pipes and aftermarket mufflers. ideas?

cat bypasses will make it louder, get 100 cell cats instead- fvd or cargraphics etc.

The freeflow cats are the way to go. The cats are part of the muffling effect. I'm told stock muffler with cats and headers sound like aftermarket mufflers.FYI .

Why do you want to pollute our air in search of improvements that may or may not be there? You'll find very little gains in performance from exhaust changes. The Porsche engine is pretty efficient making its power.

to be honest the amount of pollution a car like ours makes from running catless is pretty slim compared to the crap that huge SUVs are making...and thats even when theyre running w/ cats.

My 964 C4 had the BnB system with out cats. I went for inspection and the guy told me the numbers were real low. These cars run clean. I do beleive you will set off the enging light..

followup question - if you do get a cel from running catless, is there a fix for it? like a resistor or maybe messing w/ the ecu?

Hi Guys,
For N/A cars you are usually better off running sport cats rather then bypasses because the cars still require some backpressure. On turbo cars its great to get rid of the backpressure which is why we off cat bypass pipes (which I am running). With our hollow cats on the 996TT our software enables you to run without the CEL coming on.
Hope this helps...
