Default How Much Should A Millennium Edition C-4 Sell For?

I have a friend with a 2000 Millennium Edition C-4 with 30k miles. It is in very good condition except for some nasty curb rash on the rear wheels.

He bought a new 996TT and passed on a dealer trade-in offer of $40k for the Millennium. He has advertised the car in a local paper for $52k and is not getting any offers. He's shooting for a sale in the $45-47k range.

What do you think is a reasonable price for the car if he expands his advertising to a national website? The MSRP was $92k. Ebay offers them in the $50-55k range but they don't seem to sell.

The Millennium is loaded with cosmetic options including turbo wheels, chrome exhaust, lowered sport suspension, special leather and wood interior, digital stereo, navigator, etc., etc. It also has an unique Violet Chromaflair paint that is a dark color that takes on hues of purple, blue and green depending on lighting conditions. There were only 911 made and each is numbered. The car never seemed to gain much acceptance with Porsche enthusiasts. They seem to dislike all the cosmetic fru-fru without performance enhancements to go along. They also frown on non-traditional exterior colors. Nonetheless, not everyone in the Porsche market is a traditionalist. So, I'm looking for an opinion about what the car might fetch even if you personally don't like them. -- Thanks

There are a couple local to me and I spoke to the owner of one last weekend and he said he had just sold his in the low 40's. Personally, I looked it over and can't say I cared for the mish-mash of cosmetic items. I have no problem with cosmetic upgrades when done tastefully and done well, but in my opinion the millenium edition looks like they pulled extra parts from the parts bin and slapped them together...

the violet paint to me is very ugly--not porsche's finest hour. i'm afraid your buddy is going to take a bad hit, maybe even the $40k the dealer offered

Default Mille

I owned one, bought new, for about two years. I traded in a '94 3.6 guards red turbo on it. Actually, I liked the car a lot, and only sold it because at the time, my kids could no longer fit in the back seat. Bought a CLK 55 cabriolet. Now I'm back in the fold with my anniversary car. I think Porsche learned its lesson on the Mille; hence, the anniversary car is in a more "traditional" color, with some serious performance enhancements. But overall, my Mille gave me 12,000 trouble free miles, and as I recall, I sold it for about $12k less than I paid, so it was worth a buck a mile to me. I am surprised that they are trading for so little today. To think that my '94 turbo is now worth more than the '00 C4 is rather amazing...
