speedometer and odometer no working
My 2000 996 the speedometer needle does not move as I accelerate, odometer does not count and I have brake light illuminated all with vehicle speed sensor fault code. Turning a tight turn and accelerating the car jerks like fuel is being cut out very briefly. Internet research I am not finding where this speed sensor is located. I see each wheel has a speed sensor and quick visual inspection all look good. Is the vehicle speed sensor the 4 wheel speed sensors or another sensor? I will remove and clean these 4 wheel speed sensors but sounds like many are corroded into place and damaged when removed. It would be nice to narrow this down before I start potentially breaking wheel speed sensors.

A good scsnner wil determine which sensor is not reading but it sounds like all of yours r dead. I think i would start by inspecting the harness for possible rodant damage. Its very strange that all 4 sensors dropped out at once.

Yes, the wheel speed sensors are the vehicle speed sensors. You more than likely have just one that failed, or the harness connector for it and the brake wear sensor is breaking apart with age. 996/986 need to see all 4 to calculate.
