Default 1999 996 Crankshaft Sensor Replacement

Hi! I am attempting to replace this sensor on my 996 cab and I was able to get the sensor unscrewed from the car pretty easily...now the connector on the other end is causing me to create a new language of curse words that I am passing down to my son. It appears that the connector might be mounted and isn't moving so I can unsnap it from whatever it's connected to, however it's in a position where I cannot clearly see if that is the case and I cannot get my hands contorted to try to manipulate it easily.
If anyone has any tips or help they can offer to help me get this last part off and the new sensor in, I would love to use my car again as the Tundra I drive in it's absence is not quite as thrilling.
Thanks in advance!!!

Do you have the new sensor? What does the connector look like?

I do....the picture is below. Looks simple, but where it's located is tough to get to unless my hands shrink down half way.

this is a pic I took with the transmission out. The sensor on the left had a bad o-ring. Not too bad in this situation. This view might help give you a sense of what's around it.

There's nothing holding it besides that one small bolt. Once that bolt is out, the sensor pulls straight out (it shouldn't be difficult unless someone glued it in there). I just did mine about a month ago so i say this from experience. It is a little tight up there but definitely doable. If your hands are too big, why don't you let your son reach up and try to pull it out - maybe he'll get the thrill of being able to do something dad couldn't

Thank you for the reply....I did get that bolt out easily....the connector however that is threaded up nearer the firewall is proving to be the difficult part. It feels like it's secured to something and I cannot figure out how to disconnect it from it's counterpart. Did you have difficulty disconnecting the connector or do you remember if it's bolted down or secured to something that I need to remove to disconnect it and plug in the new part? Thanks in advance again!

You need to slide out the cam position sensor connectors from the bracket or else you will never get the bracket down. I just did mine. Also, it helps if you have the CV axle unbolted and moved away from the transmission.
