Default CDR-220 replacement

My CDR-220 ('99 C2) decided it couldn't take my taste in music anymore and stopped accepting my CDs. Instead of paying $400 for an identical replacement, I rather get something that is an improvement and ideally something that can play MP3s.

Has anybody put in an after-market MP3 playing CD receiver in your 996? Obviously it has to be something which fits in with the rest of the interior look, and unfortunately most models out there today have more flashing LEDs than the electrolight parade.

Looking for ideas.

I got the Traffic Pro for $450 not sure if it plays MP3's but it will direct you using GPS.
