Default No respect ...

Was at a PCA auto-x yesterday, just spectating and looking at the cars. Not that I don't like to drive, I was at the track just last weekend. Some of the old-timers are just amazing ... "I wouldn't take a 996 if you gave it to me!" (To which I replied "You probably don't have to turn'em down too often.") Reminds me of the old guys that used to say that no true sports car had roll-up windows. Well I've driven them all, and my 996 is fast and comfortable. Yes the 964 looks more classic, and the 993 looks great too, but I wish tose guys would just get over it! Triple Webers were great, but those cars were far from perfect, even in their time. Oh well, just had to rant ...

Yeah, I looked closely at a 964 in 1989. Chose an '88 951 Turbo S instead. The Turbo S kicked the 964's butt then. Still does.

I've been to numerous PCA functions, both social and track related. So far, haven't met anyone dissing the 996. I'll keep your retort in mind should anyone do so in the future..

PS - I should add that there were plenty of 996's there, including some very nice GT3's and TT's, and that the PCA people in general have been quite nice and hospitable

Having owned an older model 911, I can't blame them for their feelings towards their car. Just like how we feel towards our cars they feel towards theirs. I really enjoyed my aircooled 911 just like I really enjoyed my watercooled 996.

Dakar, I hope to see you at the autocross the next time San Diego holds one. I missed the one recently, participated in a get together and drive at Crystal Cove (closer to home).
