Default CR-220 Radio Display

My radio display is not as bright as the other dash displays, such as the climate control display. I took it to the dealer and the service tech said that the display was correct. He noted that the display changes as the ambient light changes. While I don't dispute that the display is changing brightness, it is just too dim. I know this because I compared it to the loaner Boxster, which had a much brighter display that accurately matched the climate control display.

Is there a way to adjust the base level of the display brightness?

I have the manual for the radio (which I downloaded somewhere off the net). I do not see where there is anyway to adjust the display brightness. Sorry.

If you haven't already, I would ask on the Becker board:

Do you know if the radio has a separate photocell to control the brightness of the radio vs. the rest of the dash? I suppose if it was defective or dirty that would reduce the brightness of the display.
