Default Carpet Color Combo

I am looking at a 2002 996 and have a noob question. The car is seal grey with grey interior except the carpets are black. Is this something that could have been ordered new or do you think the carpets have been changed. Thanks.

Two tone interiors are not uncommon from the factory. My '99 C4 has a Boxster Red interior w/ black carpeting.

I think you'd enjoy the black carpeting better than the gray. My '02S Boxster has gray leather/gray carpet and it's painful keeping the gray carpet looking good.

Thanks for the quick reply. I do prefer the black carpet. Fingers crossed PPI tomorrow!

My Targa has Natural Brown and I would love to have black carpets. I've thought about a color change many times. Best I can do is put black mats in there.

The “deviated carpets” option could be ordered from the factory. I have it in my current 911.

PPI was excellent and I purchased a 2002 Cabriolet with 41k miles. The engine was replaced by Porsche in 2013 due to IMS failure at 17k miles. The engine is a 2005 model so it has captured IMS but it is the upgraded one. Second owner religiously changed oil and had it analyzed with no indication of problems. I am doing some regular maintenance, engine mounts, coolant tank and brake hoses. The original paperwork had the carpet deviation listed so all is good. Once mechanicals are sorted then the rest is slight cosmetic improvements. The grey soft top had an oil stain from storage. (Car above dripped) and was dirty. I got the oil out with care, Gojo and dawn soap. I then did a thorough cleaning and treatment with Rag Top. The top was never treated from what I could tell. Came out good unless you are are OCD like me! From 10 feet looks new.
so the story begins!

Ragg Topp is awesome stuff. I’ve used it on both of my cabriolets and it works very well.
