Default 2002 C2 front upper strut mount - need to separate joints?

In the midst of replacing all the arms in my front suspension and discover the right front upper strut mount needs replacement (when checking the arms I guess it was all too noisy in there for me to find. I don't have the part, and it will take several days to get. Would I be duplicating work if I finish the job I'm in the middle of, or will I be able to lower things enough to do the mount with everything still bolted in place?

You'll have to remove the bottom strut mounting bolts and swing the strut out. That way it will hang and unload the spring tension. Then remove the top strut bolts and change the bushing. You should do both sides so the struts are sitting evenly. No other suspension parts need to be removed.

Ok, cool, so I can button up today and not worry about doing the same work twice. Thanks.

Been awhile since I did this job, but leaving the diagonal brace off will help to remove strut from steering knuckle.
take three nuts off frunk side of mount, then compress entire assy to lower strut from underneath fender. Use tape on fender edge.
Easier to compress spring and change mount while on work bench.

Pipe insulation foam works well too. The ones for 3/4" copper pipe seem to work best on the 996 fender lip.

It stays on pretty well by itself but you can use a little painters tape for extra insurance.
