Shift Cable Questions
My '99 needs new shift cables.
I'm preparation for this I bought one of those eBay short shift kits, the blue ones, for like $50. (Even if I hate it, it was only $50)
When I started trying to find cables I was amazed that they were around $350! 997 ones are only $200.
I also noticed there is a vin split (love having a '99)

"911 Carrera - Coupe - 3.4L 6 Cyl (24 Valve)
Note: From chassis 99XS650304"
My vin is 995XS623126. Will these cables work ? What is the difference ?
Also is there a better source (cheaper?)
Replacement doable in the driveway with a couple ramps ?
Thanks

Why are you changing the cables? Is it because they come un coupled from the gearbox end ?
There's a kit you can get to clamp the cable ends onto the shift linkage on the gearbox if that would save you doing the replacement as far as I know there are two cable types , the early one has a solid end which is a plastic socket which clips onto a metal ball the later cables have a hole in the middle of the end which fits onto a shaft on the shift linkage

I also want to do a cable upgrade. I'll probably do the cables first, then a Numeric shifter if i feel like it's not crisp enough.
