Default Brakes Squeaking while not being applied?

I noticed while driving with the windows down a squeaking sound coming from the car next to me. It sounded like the old POS that it looked like. Then, he was gone and the sound was still there. It was my car!
Basically, it's an intermittent squeak varying with my speed. When I put some pressure on the brakes it goes away and then returns when my foot comes off the brakes.

What's the fix for this? It's just annoying. I'm assuming my brakes are slightly rubbing? Any help? Thanks!

Scott: I have had this problem in various vehicles, particularly motorcycles. I don't know why it happens but a fix that has always worked for me is to take out the pads, lightly chamfer the leading and trailing edges of the pad gently with a flat file, and re-install. To be honest with you, I usually do this when installing new pads, as it only takes a few seconds.

I am sure someone else can offer you a more sophisticated explanation and solution.
