I dropped 25 for a 69k car in Guards red. Leather everything. Since July I will have dumped another 5k into it. IMS, Clutch, Coolant Tank, water pump, oil return tube, front dif Seals.

I would get rid of in a heartbeat to get a second gen Miata (not nearly as good I know) but I guess I will be keeping for a few years. If I can get 20-22k for it when it hits 85k, I'll be happy. Fingers crossed.

Yeah, no idea how much of a difference it is from the seats without, but I will say I seem to have nice head room since I'm 6'1".

Makes me feel good about the $21,500 I spent in November on mine with 78k miles. Makes me even think putting in the FSI 4.0L later this year almost makes fiscal sense 😂. Car runs like a scalded cat as is. No complaints, but I’m looking forward to it being ever better 6
months from now.

I am the idiot that overpaid on BaT for the 02 C4S the other day. Got caught up in the Auction and went over budget. You can't take it with you I suppose.

Seller has been great dealing with the multitude of questions on the car and not rushing the final sale. Getting it shipped here in the next few days.

Will need help, so glad to have this group.

Welcome to our world. Can’t be an idiot if you bought a 996 4s. And i agree, you can’t take it with you.

4 years ago I bought an 03 C4S from the Porsche dealer with 42K miles on it for 32K OTD. Decently spec for a drivers coupe. I'm at 63K miles now and recently replaced the IMS with an LN, RMS, Motorsport AOS, etc. It is a fun car to drive and although I still want a turbo I just cannot bring myself to getting rid of this car. I will likely add a turbo in 5 years or so.

If I were selling I would likely list at 28K (I think that is reasonable). It will come with everything I've installed H&R RSS coilovers, Tarret monovballs, CCWs, IPD plenum, GT3 TB, Fabspeed catless X pipe, Agency Power catback, JIC/Cross headers, RSS mounts, and some other stuff I forgot about.

If the car is sorted, that's what they go for. If the Silver 4S was the car you were looking for, you did okay.

It’s an auction site and works just like Mecums or any other auction. If the right two people are “in the room” in the closing minutes... you’ll pay a premium for not having to shop and instead having cars paraded in front of you. If not, you might get a deal. I just posted BAT historicals below from the past year on 996 C4s cars in the “Craigslist” thread a couple days ago when talking about how mileage is a big factor:

The only one i recall that actually sold with over 100k on it was this 2003 w/ 111k sold for $25,251

2002 w/ 76k mi sold for $29k
2003 w/ 87k mi sold for $28k
2002 w/ 81k mi sold for just under $24k
2002 w/ 86kmi sold for $28.5k

Mileage and color combo typically command a premium, otherwise, they go for market price... unless two folks like the same car and decide the car is more important than getting a deal.

Regardless of what we all paid for our 996 4s, what i quickly discovered is that the non-Porsche public still sees them as $90,000-$100,000 cars day in and day out. Total strangers make comments out of the blue, whether at a gas station or supermarket parking lot. Meanwhile their cars/trucks probably cost more than i paid, not that i'd ever tell them that.

Ahhhh... your "buyers remorse" will quickly fade away as soon as you start driving it! Remember, these cars sold for close to $100k for good reason. Your price is still a bargain when all else is taken into account. Only the "Aircooled Guys" will think you're an idiot...

Meh, you "overpaid" by only a little. That Black 4S is sah-weet! You can't take it with you and I'll bet you that I can find much, much sillier things for you to spend a few grand on. Speaking of idiots - I hope you enjoy the new 911 with a big stupid grin on your face for as long as you own her.
