Cat replacement
‘02 m6 coupe, 75k mi. NA. Nice car with checkered past that I recently have tried to sell. An intermittent CE light has occurred that a very reputable independent has diagnosed as R side cat failure. That shop has raised the idea of only replacing the R side for time and expense considerations. I have not decided to keep or trying to sell vehicle yet because I miss driving the car, but what are the consequences of only replacing the one cat? Will I need to replace L side in a few months or change the back pressure between banks of cylinders causing future engine problems? Will keep car 1-2 years if I go that route. Thanks for comments.
I have a right side cat/pipe if you decide you want to purchase an OEM used replacement. I personally went with 200 Cell X-pipes and have been happy with my choice. I haven't had check engine code, but others have. It's a toss up.
