Default AOS...my turn...question

OK I feel like I have done most of the difficult stuff;
1.removed plenums; PIA
2. removed coolant tank; PIA (pulling out)
3. removed 6th manifold bolt; not as tough as i thought/read

Now I can't pull the manifold out as there looks to be some type of hose or shrouding that runs between two runners.
It's the bellowed hose in the photos.
Any tips on disconnecting?

Recently did this job on my 99' 996, and currently doing this job on my 99' Boxster. When I did my 996, I had the engine out of the car for a cracked cylinder head/intermix fiasco, so it was much easier to access the AOS, but where that flexible hose connects to the AOS you will have to depress two tabs at the top and bottom of the end of the flexible hose itself while pulling the flexible hose end off of the AOS. There are actually two of those same type flexible hoses attached to the AOS, one high and one low, and a couple of vacuum lines as well. See if you can trace one of those two flexible hoses to its other end, should be on a cylinder head/valve cover with easier access, and try squeezing that flexible hose end's tabs and pulling off the hose as practice so you know what force and direction are required to remove the one you're really after. May also want to try a channel lock plier adjusted to the right dimension to aid in squeezing the flexible hose end tabs, just ensure you don't crush the hose end and/or tabs, you want just enough pressure to flex the tabs and release the hose end. Best of luck.

I would be tempted to replace those breather hoses when doing the AOS. They could be brittle and start leaking when you put it all back together. One of mine started seeping even without being disturbed.

Yup, now is the time. It can be done later but it's a pain...

Good time to replace your injectors too! And what a difference my new starter has made...It never ends.
