Here is an email responce from the seller posted on 6speed...

Alright idiot. Allow me to explain something to you. First thing is
first. I work for a valet company. Another valet in the same company had a
standard truck roll backward into a carerra 911, the carerra belonged
to another valet customer. The light was scratched on the exterior along
with the whole fender. The fender has been repaired, the light was
replaced for the customer. This is the damaged light being sold since it is
completely useless to us. Now we do have the receipt from the new
headlamp purchased from Park Place Lexus in Highland Park / Dallas Texas.
Now if you really show interest in this piece, I will provide you with a
copy of the receipt. I suggest that you keep your stupid comments to
yourself, this light is not stolen. The screwdriver scratches were from
removal at the dealership. Whoopiedoo, have you tried to remove one of
these? Give me a break.

Very well written response from that guy!
Anyway, another reason not to valet park.

I'll try to attach a picture of a friend's car after a valet "clipped" the column while backing out.

This still seems odd. So, the valet company bought the replacement light? Did they also do the repair work on the fender? A new light, can of Rust-Oleum, and tada its as good as new! Strange to say the least.

i agree mim3. since when did body shops/insurance companies start providing the parts from accident cars to the people responsible for causing the accident??!?!?!?!?!?! that makes no sense at all. if the guy worked for the body shop doing the repairs it would be one thing. but he works for the valet company. doesn't make any sense at all! how did he come into possession of the headlight?

secondly, if a dealer (i think you have to assume porsche dealer) removed them as he states, they never would have scratched them. a porsche dealer who works on an $80K+ car isn't going to be prying at the headlight with a screwdriver to get it out. they're going to remove it the correct way. he asks "have you tried to remove one?" and i answer "yes, i have" and they're really easy to remove without scratching them IF you have access to the trunk! it's a piece of cake even for a novice, a 10-15 minute job per headlight.

i'll be the first one to admit that the guy's story is possible, but it just doesn't add up. you have to stretch too many things for it to even start to make sense. but i'll admit there's a .0001% chance it's true!
