Default Cab headliner sag

I searched but couldn't seem to find anything on this particular issue. My headliner sags at the rear where the last hoop goes across. At first it appeared the hoop was not being pulled rearward enough, but when I look at pictures of other cars from the outside, it appears mine is in the correct position.

There are also flat plastic bits at both sides, above the rear quarter window. They "look" like they should slide into something, however seem to just hang free and there is nothing for them to slide under or attach to?

Anybody replaced a headliner or had similar experience?

Thanks

That sag is pretty bad looking. I have the issue like you due with the headliner in the rear corner that I have to address by putting the top in service mode position and figure out why it’s not fitting correctly. A recent thread I started about my headliner has a link that may help you on the installation of the headliner.

That was me who posted the link to the manual section. Your picture shows the plastic tab at the side much better than mine. I've seen this type of tab used on other applications (like helmet liners) and it usually slides into a slot somewhere, but I can't find anything for it to slip into.

Ah, I should have checked that thread first. If and when I ever get to working on the problem I will be sure to update my thread. Busy as of late so haven’t had time. Good luck.

Got it sorted! Turns out there is a fabric strap that links the structural loops together front to back. The rivets tore out of the strap on one side. Drilled out old rivets and replaced with a couple of button head bolts. Much improved.

I got rid of my headliner a couple of years ago...was gonna buy a new one, but decided just to live without it....the price of a headliner is almost the same as the price of an actual convertible top...just ridiculous....

pesuazo, My headliner is looking really bad, doesn't attach properly anymore and straps are worn out. The local shop wants $2,000 to replace! I'm thinking about removing the headliner.

Can you tell me what differences you encountered with the headliner out...noisier, etc>? TIA
