Default Just bought an 03' 996

It's an 03' arctic silver/graphite grey with 3800 miles on the clock. Options include psm, sport chassis, sport seats, full leather, 18" carrera wheels, flared rockers, hi fi sound system(non-bose), and navigation.

The bummer is that i just found out that my navi would be useless in hawaii since there's no CD for hawaii Apparently, navtech made a cd for Mercedes and not for Porsche. They also said it's not interchangeable. And, they're not planning to make one for Porsche

Anyone wanna buy a nav system? I really wanted to have this cool feature...bummer!

Are you refering to PSM II? If so I would be interested as PCM and PSE were the two options not on my car that I had wanted. (dealer gave me a much better deal, by about 4K, for the car on the lot versus an order)

Thanks,

Bruce

Bruce, I don't have the car yet. It's gonna be sent via slow boat and eta is 3-5 weeks. I'll be making my first car payment without having my car, sheeesh! If you're still interested when it gets here i'll contact you. Btw, I assume it's pcm2 since it's an 03', but I've been wrong many times before.

Poursha, thanks, i recently moved from S.F. I lived and had a practice in S.f. for 10 years. I really miss it there. Lot's of things to do. Plus, I loved the weather...nice and crisp.

It would be PCM II in an 03. Let me know once you have the car and make your final desicion. Have fun driving your new car!

Bruce

Poursha: Even tho I live in San Diego; I too would gladly give up Nav to live in HI.

You might be able to get a hybrid CD. In other words P-car boot up file with Map data from an Audi or Benz that covers your Island. The nav systems between those 3 brands are remarkably similar.

pardon the dumb question, but isn't a nav system overkill for the road system in hawaii?

having lived through another frigid northeast winter i find it hard to have much sympathy for a fellow citizen waiting for a new porsche in hawaii! that we should all have such problems!

seriously though have fun and drive it like you stole it! those mountain roads will be a blast in a c2! i glad you have psm!

Haha, you got a point there. But, I figure if the car has it why not use it. Occasionally I find the need to open a map to find Kalanianiole iki pupu kea street or the like. Get's kinda of fustrating when all the streets in that neighborhood all start with Kalanianiole. No such luck with streets like 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc. Also, wifey and I like to try new restaraunts, so nav. would come in handy also.

Thanks, That's one thing I'm gonna do, "DRIVE iT!!" I'm glad I have psm also, but will switch it off at the track..after i'm used to it...

Only race track on the island of Oahu is Hawaii Raceway Park. It has 1/4 mile, 1.3 mile road course(long) and 3/4 mile short course, sprint , and cart track.
