Default Valentine 1 against Escort 8500...weekend of testing both units.

I ended up buying the escort 8500 from bestbuy (local store) first. A day later, i decided to also buy the V1.
I have both on the car & it looks kind of cool. I don't turn both on at the same time, since i thought they might interfere.
Before getting into any technical aspect of both, I have decided to keep the V1 for the following good & bad reasons (more good)

good:
1) Arrow, i love the arrow. I think arrows are good, since if you get hit from front, you can use brakes, if you get hit from behind then you can downshift. Some people say , if you hear beep, then stop. But how you stop, will make a difference to the cops, if you slam on brakes, you are very likely guilty, since most cops also use their judgements.

2) the stealth look
3) bogey counter
4) all the accessories that come with it, if you had to buy those individually, you probably pay the same for Escort.
5) this guy (Mike V) i read the manual , was the president in the old company and co founder, since he was the designer, i like to buy his product since finding radar is his hobby. that's cool.

bad:
you can not really tell what kind of radar is hitting you at night, since the letters are not visible, you just have to memorize the location of those letters and figure out what is hitting. This could be bad since at night, you have to listen to the beep sound instead of finding out the letter of the radar.

any comments or suggestions are welcome.
by the way, Escort 8500 is going back tonight.

You'll learn the different sounds of the beeps from the V1 to discern radar types.

Thanks for the review. I've been tormented by the choice lately and I think I'll order my V1 very soon. I definitely need one before the first Open Road Race in Nevada this year. I take a secret back route there and sustain triple digits for as much as a half hour at a time. The V1 will at least offer a little piece of mind.

Just drive the V-1 for a little while, and you'll be able to recognize the different bands just from the sound of the alert.

You'll come to know the "X-band" sound very well...

Randy, I've just programmed both of ours to ignore X-band completely. Much better...

I have thought about disabling the X-band, but I keep it active for "small" town driving. LOL

I just use my Mute The X-band Reflex on the remote display...
