Penrite HPR 5-W40
Has anyone used this oil in their 996?
Seems similar in theory to DT40

Yep. I live in Australia and have used it in my 2001 cab for 18mths with oil changes every 6 mths regardless of mileage. 100% Australian owned company so unsure of its availability beyond these shores. I’m no expert but my engine runs quiet, pressure is good and Typical Data seems to confirm it’s a decent oil (see attachment)

Thanks for the feedback Joe, I've heard good things also and its also MB 229.5 approved which suits our family SUV as well and makes keeping plenty on hand when its on sale cost effective.
The trend seems to be going towards 5W-40 rather than 0W-40 in our climate in a lot of European cars.
The pricing is also crazy as its often on special for $46 AUD ($32 USD) for 5 litres at Supercheap Auto, not that is a major consideration, but sure makes the regular low mileage 6 months changes super cheap
