Default Exhaust tips > upgrade from standard to sport?

Hi everybody -

Looking at buying a 1999 911, with the standard exhaust tips. Can this be upgraded to the bigger diameter sport exhaust tips easily? Can I just remove the old tips and put on the larger ones or do I have to change out the mufflers?

Thanks!

You may be shocked at what the tips cost..
They are on a stub pipe that clamps to the muffler's outlet on my 03..

Lots of pics on the various supplier sites..

If you are referring to these tips for your 1999, the tips will swap out with no muffler change needed. You may need to adjust the mufflers since the tips will be closer to the body due to their size.

Yes, that was the price I paid. Sadly they did not fit my car, since I had aftermarket mufflers. I tried to sell them but ended up passing them on to an RLer in need!

Exhaust tips for these cars are ridiculous. I’ve considered muffler deletes just because of the pricing on new tips.

I went with the single outlet factory tequipment tips. Crazy expensive new. I was patient and found a set on eBay for really cheap. Polished them up and they look like new. I like them much better than the small factory tips the car came with. They were swapped when I installed a new exhaust.

The quad tips off eBay are very nice - very well made, very reasonably priced, and look great

I bought similar ones to these, only mine looked worse until I polished them up. I bought mine for about 200 bucks. These have been listed for a while. You might be able to get a better deal.
