Default Sottozero 3 Winter tires

Took 7 weeks to finally get winter tires delivered and mounted on my 03 c4s. Per owner’s manual:
225/40/18
265/35/18

My question:

Tires were mounted on stock rims, rears being 11J x 18, but manual says rear rims should be 10J x 18?

Rear tires look stretched but the ride is smooth and quiet. I don’t need different rear rims, right?

thanks

They would do their job better on a 10,, you want corner bite with a foul weather tire...
996 stok rear is a 10x18. not terribly hard to find.

Hmmm...yeah, they've got that "stretched ricer look" - looks like they'd fit a 10" wide wheel better...

I have 265s on 10 inch wheels and they look stretched there too.

getting quite the education on winter rims for the c4s. turns out i need part #99636214002 (18 x 10 with 47mm offset) to replace my existing rear rims (18 x 11 with 45 mm offset).....now i just have to find some for sale at a reasonable price. i did see some older posts about putting 275s or even 285s on rear stock rims in the winter. I might have to bite the bullet and buy another set of larger rear winter tires and sell the recently acquired 265s since 2 new tires is significantly cheaper than 2 new rear rims.

any advice is appreciated. drove 60 miles this morning on the new tires and the ride was very smooth, my old sumo rear 295s were apparently toast.

Get the 10" rears and mount the 265s on them. If you go wider on tire width, you're going the wrong direction. Narrower is better for winter tires (as is taller aspect ratio).
