Water tools
Any tools outside the ordinary that would make replacing a water pump on a 996 easier? I have regular wrenches, sockets and torque wrenches. I have a jack and ramps. Besides a lift, any other tools to pick up?
Are all the bolts on the water pump relatively accessible? Should I expect any of the bolts on the motor brace or exhaust braces to not want to come off. The area is very clean with 70k on it. As I posted earlier, I got the clamps that support the exhaust from the brace off. One froze but off and replaced. Hoses appear in great shape, no cracks and still soft like rubber.
My shop wanted 550 labor and won’t use my pump (understandable) so I am thinking I have to do unless my other car mechanic says he will do it. He’s looking into.
Thanks,
David

Hose clamp pliers are helpful, but not necessary.

Low-profile ratcheting metric wrenches and the lowest-profile socket set you can find to get access to the topmost water pump bolts.
The torque on the water pump bolts is low enough that they're easy to strip, so a decent torque wrench also.

To better seal coolant hoses and allow them to come off easier later, does anyone apply a material to the inside of hose and outside its connection?
This silicone lube seals so possible less leaks, and to my knowledge it never hardens so its lube properties would seem to make hose removal years later easy:

Good question.
i think I have my tool list.
10mm socket (one deep)
15mm wrench with long landle
15mm deep socket
12mm to remove airbox
clamp tool listed above
tool for coolant drain plug
2 ton low profile jack (with wood block)

if I forgot anything, please let me know.
