Fair enough I think that’s good advice.
I learned one thing about this forum. It is not a friendly place.
Better to just move on.
Im sure this has happened a lot.😉

On a side note, JR recommends not topping off your oil until it reaches one bar.

PS,
I have "man *****" (the same size as my fist) and at 57, if I type it consider it the same as a face to face conversation!!
I believe you and thank you for being upfront. I like that. Mine are a little smaller than my fist. My wife won’t let them get that big of you know what I mean.

No insult meant directly at you but it seems like a lot of threads turn into a fiasco. None of us want this.

HaHa, just make sure she knows you love her and never let the car come first!

I used Mobil one. I added 0-40. But I don’t think that’s what I changed it. I researched it and used the weight recommended by the majority. Look I don’t know this this car yet. I’m learning. I still have a blinking gas light that ruined one night by running out. My own stupidity.
I love this car though. I can assure of that. It’s my 5th 911 plus a boxster only for a month. I wasn’t felling the love with that car but nothing against those who do.

She loves the car as much as me in fact I have had several messes to clean up if you catch my drift. But she loves it.

Yea I used 5-40. I had a big jug of mobil synthetic 0-40 so I added that. I’ll be changing it soon. Before the snow.

I began reading this thread and saw the oil usage thing the wife wanted to go see fall colors so I thought I'd better check the oil.
So with about 1k on a fresh oil change (mobil 0-40) I looked at the dipstick still full and clean plus it has 5 bars.
So am I one of the lucky ones?

Oil expands as it gets hot. Full cold (not good) is to much oil!

This might be the dumbest question yet or for people like me
who have owned several air cooled including.
a 74 that I wish I just set. aside because they are very hot
right now and likely worth 3X’s what I paid. I thought I did week making $2400. You never know. Just don’t tell my wife.

The 1.6 quart max is noted in a Porsche ATI. I'm not saying that's "normal" in our books, but it appears that Porsche sees 1.6 qt of oil consumed up to 622 miles completely normal. Yes, I agree, sounds ridiculous.

So each bar on the meter = approx 8 oz. FWIW Jake Raby also told me that my motor may burn "a lot" of oil - especially during break in, but it hasn't been bad at all - maybe 4 oz./1k mi.

Read the owner's manual. The owner's manual for my 2000 clearly states the engine will ingest oil in certain conditions. The example they give is that if you run the car for short trips, moisture is likely to get in the oil and when you run it for a long trip that moisture will burn off and the oil level will be lower.

This is what I think happened to me. I generally do not need to refill any oil in my car. However, in July I noticed that the oil was 1/4 full, not half full. I put some oil in, and it did not continue to drop from there, meaning the subsequent times I checked it over the next month or so it stayed at half. I generally try to let it stretch it's legs, but I do putter around town too.

I guess the point is that you are continually refilling the oil, something else is going on but otherwise don't worry about it.
