Default 996 crankshaft replacement

Hi all . I am rebuilding the engine from my 1999 996 911 3.4 cab . On stripping down we found the end of the crank had broken off ( tooth drive end ) . I am looking to replace the crank . The crank is marked 9961015R.
I’ve been given options that a Boxster 986 engine model year 2000 or W registration here in UK is an option to help locate one . I need the front end off a Boxster for another front damaged 996 I have so a donor Boxster seems a great idea .is it just year 2000 Boxster or do I have more year options to help in my search
cheers

I would think any 5 chain 3.2 would work fine, but remember you need the crank carrier also

How the heck did it break like that? Check the part number and cross reference it with other year Boxters. Maybe the early ones will work if the number is the same.

Default Crank broken

Hi thanks for replies . I really don’t know there must have been an undetected crack from casting I would think .the end was completely off the main Crank. By some miracle the damage is restricted to end shells and it caused the clutch release fork to come away inside the bell housing causing some minor Damage .
cheers

You mean the main bearing end shells? Did it damage the area where the bearings sit?

How are you planning to fix the bearing cradle and cap?
