Default Hydraulic Pump UH Oh

Hey there. I am in need of some desperate help. I just replaced my right side cylinder for the top. It worked great but couldn’t get clamshell closed all the way. Got it closed and latched. It would not re open. So I proceeded to use the manual method with the screw. Well Turing the screw counter clockwise to raise the clamshell it got to the point where it is hard to turn, I turned and the screw broke off!!!!! Needless to say, I have a locked clamshell and I cannot get a drill into the broken screw to drill it out. Will the durametric be able to unlock the latch holding the clamshell so I could hopefully raise it to get the pump out to then hopefully drill out the broken screw? I hope that I have not really screwed myself. See what I did there? Please help.

I had a clamshell hatch stuck situation with the top down and the screw broke .You will not like my solution -I used a Dremel with a cutoff disc and sawed the hatch .motor bracket off disconnected the motor and then manually turned the hatch mechanism to open the hatch .If the top is up it might be possible to get to the hatch drive wires disconnect the connector and use a battery to drive the motor .Hopefully someone has a better plan than what I did .

I think my problem is the clamshell latch is closed. Is there any way to unlatch it? Duranetric?

the latch is mechanical and driven off the same motor .Take a look at a parts diagram .

Yeah, something is keeping the latch from coming undone. I hope the top didn’t get between the latch and the clamshell. I have a sneaky suspicion that is what happened. I might have to try to unbolt the sides of the clamshell and see if I can maneuver it around to get it unlatched. I ordered the manual repair kit so I am not worried about the screw broken. I can fix that once the clamshell is opened. This is not fun. Any others out there that have had a stuck latch on the clamshell? FYI. The side patches are undone.

Doubtful top is snagged in the latch .More likely that top synchronization was off and system shut down .

Also ….don't know what reference material you have but you will need to retime or calibrate the drive motor once apart .The shop manual spells out all the steps .Might want to see if you can get a copy from one of the rl members .Mine is gone .

Thank you!!! I have some recent success but not much. I was able to take a small piece of wood and saw as suspected that the top was caught in the latch. The latch was open but the top was caught. Got that fixed and out of the way. I cannot for the life of me get the clamshell opened. I am thinking of taking out the roll bars and trying to get to the motor, remove the motor ( if I can ) which would allow me to get to the drive and possible move it!!!

Success. Lots of cuts on my hands but about 1.5 hours and lots of parts removed I got the clamshell opened. Now to figure out the problem!!!!

You must be a contortionist to get that drive motor off .Is the clamshell paddle switch intact ?

It actually was pretty easy once I removed the roll bar. The drive unit needs repair so I order the kit from pelican. Something isn’t right as I can’t get the clamshell to latch. Might just head to the Indy. I got lucky figuring out the whole ordeal. If anyone wants a write up I am happy to provide one.
