996 muffler dimensions
Does anybody know the muffler dimensions for a 1999 996 c2? I have a project vehicle without mufflers and am curious what the OEM can size is. Thank you in advance for the help.

What exact dimensions are you after? I have a spare set of MK2 mufflers I can get some measurements from on the weekend.

If you could measure the height, length, and width that would be great. I realize the mufflers are asymmetrically shaped so average values will work for my purposes.
Thank you

No problem - although knowing this board someone will be able to get you the measurements faster than I can!
Either way, if they don't ill get them for you.

I'll be there over the weekend and will make a note to get the measurements sorry!
Alternatively I have a set of cargraphic mufflers for a 996 I can measure tonight? If not ill get the standard ones on the weekend.

Okay so finally got around to doing this!
I got 33 x 20 x 15
In cm where 33 is the rough height and 20 is the width at the thickest end and 15 is the thin end - they taper from the front to the back.
Hope that helps - I just sold them as well so I can't get any other dimensions sorry!

You didn’t happen to get a length measurement, did you?

The can is about 10.5" without the crimped flange front to back.

What do you need, front to back length? I'm working under my car and have the bumper off now.

Thank you Dan, and Bill. I’m all set and able to move forward with my project. 1999 996 C2, LS3 engine swap complete with 180 degree headers.
