With the market how it is right now he is probably looking at 27-30k.
Is 220 that rare of an option?

Yes. Typically only found on some 1999s and the 40AE cars.

My 1999 is a low option car, but it did come with M030, 220, and 222, which was the "Sport Package" option at the time. The sport package did include the sport seats, but the original owner of my car swapped them out with Euro GT3 seats prior to delivery. The only other option was a 6 disk CD changer.

So he paid 6k for 1.5 years/3k miles of enjoyment. I suspect that he though the very low miles would mean appreciation, but those days are not here yet.....

That is good money, this time, for that car considering the interior! The previous auction was a apparently a fluke or just bidding insanity. Wife just to be an antiques dealer and we would go to lots of auctions. I occasionally got caught up in bidding wars that when done I had overpaid. Still have a lot of those items...

Geez, I can relate to that.
We had designed/layout our sportsman's retail store with antiques, first couple auctions my wife overpaid for everything, getting caught up in bidding.
Then I went along, and did the same thing

I think there is a belief here that 996s are not worth much more than 20k (Even if it goes to $18-$20k he's looking at a $20k hit for 1 year of ownership). Low mileage 996s consistently exceed 25k and this was a well optioned very low mile example. I think 30k is the sweet spot. My own 2004 C2 (my 996 for sale) has generated several cash offers in the 26-27k range, I just am not that motivated to sell below 28k, and in fact just raised my price from $28 to 30k. The days of bargains on low mileage 996s is probably over.

It is likely the car sits locked more than 7 days at a time before being driven. The key has to be used because the car goes to sleep and remote does not work until you unlock physically with the key.

So, basically you’re saying you don’t want to sell your car. Your car is modded, few options, and yellow. I like those things, but they will severely restrict your pool of potential buyers.

Looks nice, maybe you’ll find a buyer at that price if you’re willing to wait a while.

That’s exactly what he is saying. I have seen way better cars for that price. The wheels are awful too. I would take 27k in millisecond if I were him. People for some reason don’t like yellow 996’s. That car would be 25k on bat probably less. I am one who always is pro seller, top dollar, 996 apologist,as well.

"Your car is modded, few options, and yellow. I like those things, but they will severely restrict your pool of potential buyers"

Only mods are wheels and intake (and I have original intake)
Few options, but it has the rare Aerokit so that adds a lot of value
Yellow is surely an issue for some, agreed.
I can wait, no need to sell.

P.S. "The wheels are awful too." Funny I get compliments on them all the time.

If I don't get what I want I will keep and enjoy.

That is a nice looking 996. As you know Spring will make it more valuable even in sunny Florida.

Here’s the options list on my ‘99. If anyone offered me north of $25k id sell it so fast it’d make your head spin. I’m not saying it’s worth it, but curious if the options are that rare.
