Default GT3 front bumper vent on 996

I’m looking to install a third front radiator on my full track prep 996. I recently ordered the Rennline 997 vent kit and I see that the grill turns upward on the 997, while a 996 bumper is shaped slightly differently I don’t think the 997 kit will look correct..

Has anybody installed a front bumper vent on a 996 that can share their experience? I’ve searched and can’t find a 996 specific bumper grill. Would really love to have the added airflow and downforce the bumper vent provides.

if you have a narrowbody, then you'll have to go for a GT3 Cup front bumper. If you have a widebody, then your best bet would be a GT2 front bumper.

Either way, it ain't cheap if you can go OE. Getty Design sells these but I have no experience on the material quality on top of fit/finish.

NR Auto makes their bumpers out of polyurethane (like the factory bumpers). I'd look into their stuff.

Thanks but my question has nothing to do with bumpers.

I’m only asking about fitment of the 997 GT3 vent grill on the 996 turbo bumper. I’ve seen these GT3 bumper vent grills installed on 996s which look great. Is there a specific 996 grill that’s a factory OEM part? 997 GT3 grille is too curved at the corners for proper fitment on the 996

A little backstory: I tore my aero splitter off along with the bumper mounting tabs (bottom front of the wheel wells) going through the gravel at turn 10 @ Road Atlanta earlier this year. I’ve got a new turbo bumper ready to be painted Just wondering about adding the grill while the bumper is in the shop

Check the GT car forum. There have been people that cut the GT3RS vents into their GT3 bumpers. The 996 bumper vents are just holes cut in the bumper, not an insert like the 997 vent. There was one rennlister that shared templates a long time ago, not sure if they're still around. The 996 GT2 has an insert though - maybe look into that if you want an insert? 996-575-326-30

^^. The GT2 insert is exactly what I’m looking for. Thanks!

A bit pricey @$450 compared to the $70 GT3 insert, but hey, whoever thought Porsche racing parts would be cheap?

Edit: Reading into this further I realized there’s a significant amount of modifications to the bumper aside from the insert. Looks like I’ll replace the bumper and not make any venting modifications

Thanks to all who contributed to this thread.
