Default IMSB Circlip part number

Anyone know what the part number is or where I can order one from?

I think I read here that it wasn't intended to be a part that is serviced, so I doubt there is a Porsche part number.

If you are servicing it, perhaps the vendor that sold you the bearing can offer a snap ring?

For example, LN Engineering support has been great for me when I've needed anything.

I was hoping that there is a size or something where i can order one from a store. Shipping a circlip seems excessive

For my engine, I'd pay whatever shipping is necessary to get the right part.

However, it is your engine...

Lucky for you, I am a pack rat... Here are the dimensions from a IMSB Spirolox retaining ring from a LN Retrofit:

Since the Spirolox plays the same role as the circlip in the same location, could you not use those dimensions to find a circlip with similar dimensions?

LN Engineering kindly sent me a used one when a mechanic I used didn't give it back to me (Didn't realise I'd need it later on).

You need the original sir-clip when installing the IMS solution - which is what i'm planning to do next year.

That clip it not available as a spare part - you can be a parts hunter like I have been and search for "circlip" on Autoatlanta and buy a bunch of them that look like they might suit - they are mostly 0.49c from what I just saw.

I've found that a lot of parts were used across multiple vehicles but aren't necessarily in the 996 parts catalogue as they would be bundled with other parts i.e. a new IMS bearing. Which was at one stage available without the IMS shaft...

These look like a good candidates:

http://www.autoatlanta.com/Porsche-L...004101301.html

At $2.49 each worth buying to see if they are correct. I've got an original stashed away somewhere if you need reference measurements

I've found other 944 parts on the 996 so worth a shot - if you need measurements to compare to mine let me know

If it comes through we can add it to the non PET available parts for the 996! - Winning!

Go to a store that sells fasteners, they probably can get it for you or steer you in the right direction.

I’m trying to get an EPS IMSB out of mine and discovered that, not only is the center stud NOT the same as the OEM (20g), their “solution” doesn’t include a snap ring. So did you find one that fit?

New replacement, ent clips must be checked carefully. Most do not fit the groove properly, of they will install too tightly, allowing the ears of the clip to contact the IMS cover flange.
In these scenarios a use factory clip is the absolute answer.
The IMS Solution purposely does not include a snap ring, and the directions call for the original to be reused. The major reason for this is to make it more difficult for the IMS Solution to be used as a "repair part" after an IMS bearing failure has occurred. These failures always take out the original clip, so if someone doesn't have a clip, they are generally trying to repair an engine without disassembly, which defies the intention of the IMS Solution, and puts it at risk of collateral damage. In Yogi's scenario a good used clip is the answer, but they are getting very hard to find.

The EPS bearing is retained by loctite, and has no mechanical retention.

I spoke with George this morning and he said he's send me one. You guys rock! I also figured out the thread type on the center stud so now I just need to make my own coupler to attach to yours.
