Unhappy 40th Anniversary Buyer's Remorse - sort of...

Just had the air bag deactivation device installed in my 40th Anniversary C2 this morning and I swung by the showroom on the way out to say hey to the sales team. Originally, they had only been allocated one Jubilee C2 but, apparently because they sold it so quickly, the received a second one. The second one, unlike mine, came with PCM and sport seats. I would have preferred to have both of these options but, thinking they weren't going to get another Jubilee, purchased the one they had.

I'm happy with the car I have, but I have to admit that I'm frustrated by their receipt of a car optioned out just the way I wanted mine. Anyone care to commiserate or am I just being an ***.

Was at the Auto Gallery Sunday. The had two 40th anniv 911 coupes sitting in the back. They tried to push these two cars hard. $94k asking? For another 10 G I'd rather have a nice 02 or 03 turbo. The Anniv edition does look good

Jim,

You are in luck, sort of, since both options can still be added. Since the MY03+ models have a stereo system that is on a fiber optic network, you can retrofit PCMII into your ride. As far as sport seats, those can be installed also.
You should check Ebay or other porsche specific classifieds for sport seats, since there are many people that are replacing their sport seats with GT3 seats. The dealer should be able to do the PCMII, if not any competent installer should be able to handle the job...

I didn't know about the air bag deactivation? Is this something that I can do on my 03 Targa?

I suspect they knew all along they had another one coming in--they just wanted to sell the one they had in stock.

Yes. If you buy the Child Seat from Porsche they have to, by law, install the kit for free.

You're just suffering from the new car second guessing disease. Enjoy your ride now and don't look over your shoulder at the "what ifs".

You bet your *** they knew they had another coming...If you were in the car dealership business, what would you do?

That's why I never give them (car salesmen) any respect.

Before someone takes a shot at the sales guy did you tell them you wanted the sport seats and PCM? If not, the sales guy had no way to tell that the car coming in would appeal to you more.

Any idea how much labor is involved in retrofitting PCM II? (on an 03)

Given the situation, see if they would be willing to install the options at dealer cost or a discount off retail.

it would probably be cheaper to trade into that car that to retrofit sport seats/painted backs and PCMII, though that probably isnt what you want to hear. Maybe the dealership can help you make a deal...

Brian, sorry to hear that you have had lousy sales people your entire life. Not giving someone respect simply because of their profession seems a little off to me, but thats just my $.0002

how much off MSRP did you get? If you got a discount use that money towards the PCM and seats and maybe some - the 40th is an awesome car. Enjoy it!!
