Default Coating for "polished" headlight

I've been able to get my headlights looking clear with rubbing compound, now I need a clear coating.
What works and won't yellow?

I'd go with the clear vinyl laminate for added protection.

I would use a good wax/sealant and give the headlights a good coat.

I've gone with a spray clear coat after polishing my lights in the past, and they still wound up yellowing pretty quickly after that. I may not have used the right spray in the first place, but it was disappointing.

I wound up getting the Xpel brand pre-cut headlight films and putting those on after re-polishing. That has held up really well and the lights still look clear and sharp even after a year of driving, sitting in the sun, etc. I think I purchased mine from Amazon.

when i had xpel installed on front half i was told they don't cover the headlights due to the heat generated. that's the extent of my knowledge on the subject. good luck

They must not have known any better because they specifically make pre-cut kits for them now.

Spray them with actual clear coat? I usually put a ceramic coat on them but you certainly spray them with actual clear coat.

I took mine to a body shop and they sprayed them with their clearcoat ( I had to rough the polish with 2500 grit paper) for a case of beer. They just did them along with a car they were finishing. OK, I know the body guys
Oh, and then I put Xpel on the lenses
You could also get a can of 2K clear -- its a 2 part (puncture to activate thing) and spray the lights.

guys in this thread talked about clear coating their headlights. I still can't understand the logic. the lenses are permanently altered and if done incorrectly the lights are forever ruined.
apply lamin-x or xpel and be done with it.

I went with the Expel pre-cut laminates for mine. It's been over a year (maybe 2???) and they're still clear...

Does it lay flat out of the box or do you need a heat gun?
