Default CR 220 Multi Disk Player not working

I just purchased a 2001 996 which has the CR 220 radio and a multi disk player. The multi disk player is not being "recognized" by the radio. The radio has it's own CD player inside, not a "cassette player". Can anyone tell me if this Multi disk player runs on a separate fuse? If so, where it is located. Is it easy to remove the radio and Multi disk player?

If not any other troubleshooting help would be great.

The multi disc player is in the frunk. Fuse panel is by your left foot.
Mine's not working either but my time in the 996 is usually quiet time. I just listen to sweet sound of the flat 6.

It's possible that the unit itself has an internal fuse. I'd pull the unit out and check for it. You probably can't make it worse if it isn't working now...

So true! I was just hoping for a simple fix like a fuse, but on the "fuse map" in the fuse box, I am unable to be sure which fuse runs the player, if it is a separate fuse, or if it is run off the "radio" fuse.

Thank you, was wondering if that was the case. Now I just need to know how to pull the player out! I'll check YouTube for some videos.

Is it possible that this unit is just for CD Storage? In the build sheet I have, the customer purchased the "Technic Package" which has a "CD Radio and CD Shelf" Should I assume "Shelf" means "Storage"?

Umm...the trays below the unit are just for storage. As 808Bill said, the changer unit is in the frunk. Are you hitting the "S" button (source) on the 220 unit? That cycles through radio/cd/etc.

I made the same mistake when I got my car. I couldn't understand why a CD I didn't even have would keep playing. To the original poster - the trays below the radio are only storage trays. The CD is behind the face plate. Press the button on the upper right to eject it. If you have a changer, it will be in the frunk.

Thanks everyone for your help. Well I figured out that It is a storage area for CD's, and there is no MD unit in the frunk. So now it's on to finding a good radio that will enable me to play Spotify music from my Android phone. I have been looking at Crutchfield radios. Any suggestions for a good replacement radio would be much appreciated. I do love hearing the motor, but at times, like some good tunes! Would love to take out the CD storage unit and add a slot for storage of misc. items like the phone or glasses. Does anyone know if that can be done?

You can add a bluetooth adapter that plugs into the back of the radio where the connection for the CD Changer would go. You can stream anything from your phone. I've had this one for a few years and it works great. https://www.discountcarstereo.com/blu-bkr235.html
