horn not working/help
Here are three photos of my steering wheel (2001.1/ 996) with the airbag out of the way. My horn is functioning, but not by pushing on the steering wheel - I know it's working because my alarm went off about a month ago, but when I press the steering wheel button I get nothing. Can anybody tell by looking at these photos what's wrong? Should I assume that my horn relay is working, since the horn sounds, or is that a mistaken assumption?
I'm also not clear how the key fob works (two buttons) If they do something related to the horn I sure as hell can't tell what - I just lock & unlock the car with the key.
I'll be grateful for any suggestions or comments.
In an unrelated issue, a number of people said that the pixelation problem on my speedometer gauge cluster might clear up once the weather turned warm; it's been
90 degrees plus where I am for a while now - no luck.

I want to thank everyone for their ideas and help with my problem, first of all. I was just about to order a pair of new horns, and pull off the front bumper again (cleaned out the radiators this summer) but I found an excellent Youtube video that said if there was no clicking sound when you pressed the horn button, it was probably the relay. Sure enough - my #10 slot was empty. I bought an Audi/VW relay with the same number for $6. and that fixed it! Thanks again for all the help.

Instead of guessing, get the mulitmeter out and check if the horn relay is activated when you press the horn. Also check if wiring is correct at the steering wheel. You will need to do a systematic diagnosis before buying anything. I would start at the fuse.

My horn sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. The "doesn't" times usually coincide with a SuperDuty 350 bearing down on me from the next lane, oblivious to my existence.
