Default 911 Carrera Convertible buy it?

I have a 2006 CTT and I love it. So now I'm hooked on Porsche. I am looking at 1999 911 Carrera convertible. The IMS, clutch, and flywheel has been replaced. It has about 140,000 km's. I really like it. Is there anything I should look for when I go see it?

So I should look for god? Is there a specific god I should look for? Thanks for the help. Maybe the users on Renntech are more helpful.

There is a thread stickied with buyers guides up top. You already have potential issues fixed with the IMS and clutch. Other issues include air oil separator, worn engine mounts, suspension parts. Listen for ticking on startup for potential bore scoring. Take it for a PPI, that would be the best money you could spend when buying one of these.

There are videos on line covering performing a ppi on a 996. I think that some were made by Jake Raby and a very good. Certainly a good start to get info.

Maybe. But your question has been asked and answered over and over in both forums. Use search function and you'll have hours of info to digest.😎

Thanks! Very good info! It's either one of these or an Audi TT convertible.

And I did read up on things. I was asking about the obvious things that I would see in a test drive.

Go and look at it and see if you like the look of it. Drive it and see if you like the way it drives. Listen for squeaks and rattles from the interior. Listen for suspension bus and rattles when driving over bumps. Make sure the engine revs and idles smoothly and the transmission shifts smoothly. Are the under body panels there? How's the interior and paint look? If you like the look of it and you love driving it, buy it. Even if you have it checked out something could go wrong with it. Looks like a lot of maintenance was done already so there are fewer things to worry about. If you buy it, make sure you drive it with the top down.

What year and model TT is it? If I had a choice between two verts I would go with the 911 over the TT. Unless the TT has AWD and you need it.

The ones I would be looking at are all in the early 2000's. There is not a lot of choices where I live. I want to sell my CTT and get a Cayenne diesel for a daily driver and a convertible for a toy. Mid life crisis I guess. Thanks for the input. I guess buying a 20 year old vehicle, I should know there will be imperfections.
