I have two sources, the 101 projects book and a post on another forum, stating Clockwise from the front of the engine and Clockwise from the back of the engine.
Does it matter? I may have to reset the timing on my engine.

it turns clockwise when running normally you only turn an engine natural direction of rotation.. "normally"

When facing the crank pulley, turn the engine only clockwise.
