Question thoughts on a 2000 cab

An older friend in Santa Rosa, CA, wishing to get back into the fold asked me about a 2000 cab being offered at NBS Auto Showroom https://nbsautoshowroom.v12soft.com/...view/11611245/. VIN WP0CA2992YS652187;
Do any of you have any knowledge of NBS Auto Showroom?
Also, any recommendations as to who could perform a PPI in the Milpitas, CA area should he wish to get the 996.
Since the description doesn't mention anything about IMS replacement, I've told my friend to set aside some $$ in case the maintenance records are either missing or indicate no IMS replacement (been there and bought the 20k$ tee-shirt ).

Thanks, Cringely

This year model was known for intermix problems. Called it 996 "Y2K" or something like that. It could have the dual row IMS unless the engine was replaced under warranty with a single row bearing. Be careful. Bore scope the cylinders and check for intermix, misfires, etc.

Depends on the build date. Early 2000's don't have the Y2K syndrome and have double row IMS bearings. MK-I (3.4L) are less susceptible to bore scoring, according to FSI's videos - something to do with the angle of the dangle or the cube of the pube. A thorough PPI is a good idea.

I'd buy it just based on the 235 MPG it gets.

https://offerup.com/item/detail/647321428/

look at this one as a comparison. my friend in chicago sent me this link. looks really nice and already had IMS bearing done. i have no relationship to the seller, just passing along for info purposes.

good luck with your search
