Default Unusual fuel gauge issue Not the usual issue we know about

Hi can anyone please help me
my fuel gauge is rapidly decreasing both the digital fuel gauge and the needle one.
in 5 minutes it went from half a tank to almost empty the digital went from 119 to 43.
I have a video here please check it out to see for yourself and maybe you can help me diagnose this issue
many thanks

Assuming you don't have a major fuel leak, i would suspect a bad sending unit.

+1 bad sending unit ,, or the cluster is wonky since IIRC there is some CAN bus dependencies in there...

If it’s the cluster I hope it isn’t a hard job to replace I’ve never done anything like that to this car. I reckon I can figure out how to do the sending unit but cluster I’d be a bit worried damaging anything.
You think it’s an easy job if it’s the cluster?

If its the cluster the car will require a trip to get access to a PWIS to re-code the new cluster to the car.
None of the diy's indicate getting the cluster out requires super human skills. I would still bet on the sensor
because the Mileage and gage are behaving the same so it means a common point of failure,,
the sensor is EASY..

That’s a good point thanks. Il give it a go but at the moment I’m living with it as some days it’s fine the next day or plays up so it’s intermittent. I am putting money aside for it as I want to do a few things at the same time like the MAF sensor and give it a service.

Thanks for all all the help everyone
