Default Engine feeling

Hello good people

Iv recently been feeling a sort of jerk in the engine.
When on idel it jerks a bit and i can see the pressure gauge pending.
When i accelerate from low rep (under 2000rpm) it is the same thing.

However when over 2000 rpm it feels fine,

Is this normal or has anyone else experienced this?

It is a 2002 996 carrera

All the best Hampus

Hey Hampus, would you describe the feeling as a "surge" or a sudden, abrupt jerk?

Hello

Its a sudden drop of power, feels a bit like when you try to acc in very no rpm like under 1500 but i dont think it has been like this before in higher revs.

It could be that i started to drive like a old lady but it should not be in idle.

Is it a skip or misfire?

I would say more in the line of a skip.

Get it scanned during a test drive by someone that knows what they are doing and start from there.

Has your car had a tune? Does it have any other mods - exhaust etc?

I have had a sudden brief drop in acceleration in first gear only if I let off the throttle and back on or hesitate when taking off. It's rare that it happens but i've felt it before.

My car has had exhaust changes a tune with the old exhaust so it might need a re-tune.

If yours is untuned it might need a new sensor of some sort. As IMO has suggested - scan for codes then do a live diag drive to gather data with a durametric or PIWISII

It has sport cats but other then that is standard as far as i know.

Could it be that the spark plugs need to be changed?

According to the book its should be done soon, over 30000km/19000miles and 4 years last time

Might be the sport cats as I had my plugs changed and it was still present - very rarely and only under acceleration then letting off and back on again. Almost like the DME gets confused at what youre asking for. I also have 200cel Cargraphic X-pipe + Cargraphic mufflers.

Wasn't there before the xpipe was installed.

Check the gas pedal assembly, DBW systems are kinda known for
misbehaving when the mechanism gets worn or dirty.
Similar symptoms as many throttle position sensor failures.

I don't have knowledge of these symptoms, but if you do end up having to replace the pedal, look into the Rennline fully adjustable accelerator pedal. It is a great upgrade. I put one in when the 996 I bought had a broken hinge.

What book? 30K kms is nearly nothing for spark plugs if they are not copper core (iridium, platinum etc.). What kind of plugs do you have in there? Don't start randomly guessing and then start replacing parts. Throwing parts at it can get really expensive really fast! Get someone that knows what they are doing to look at the car. You are asking questions that tells me you need help (not internet help) to figure this out.
