Default searching for 996 cab

I sold my 993 last month, I'm looking for a higher mileage 1999 or 2000 996 cab as an everyday driver in SW Florida. I'm asking the forum which repairs are a must in the 996 with 120,000 miles.

Depends on the service history of each car.

These will prevent some (but not all) of the failure points:
- IMS
- Waterpump
- Chain guides

Nice to replace if original:
- AOS
- Coolant tank
- If broken, Transmission pinion bearing replacement (~$2500k at Gbox).

I would also look for motor mounts, coils and plugs. Not a deal breaker but a negotiation point and something that may need doing soon. When was the clutch last done? nice to haves would also include shocks and bushings at that mileage

At that age I would check to see the condition of the soft top and plastic window. I'm guessing if it's Florida car the top may have already been replaced. It's about a $2000 job.

If they are already doing the IMS bearing, they have to r&r the clutch and flywheel anyway, so all you are adding is the cost of parts.

How much that is depends on whether they use Porsche parts or OEM equivalents (Sachs clutch and Luk flywheel) and the shop’s markup.

I can’t tell you retail on parts, as I’ve only done the work myself - my guess is $1200-1500. Parts can be had for ~$1000 ($600 for the flywheel, $400 for the clutch, or less) iirc if you shop carefully and do the work yourself.

Coincidentally I am having a shop in your area currently working on my 911. The IMS, RMS, AOS and clutch is around 4k+/- odds and ends. The clutch and flywheel are parts only. Also have a 911 cab I am selling for a client of mine but I think its out of the range you are looking for, 63k miles, great shape.
