Just got back from a trip - drove a rental car for about 150 miles it really makes me appreciate the 20 year old Porsche so much more every time I drive a new (cheap) car.
Also my dad just got a 2019 Audi S5 coup and I much prefer the 996 - same thing with my wife's 2015 Macan turbo.

I just drove a 2011 S5 coupe a couple weeks ago and the 996 is so much better.
