Be Safe out there...
Just 30 mins ago driving on highway 4 and a deer jumped out at the last second. No chance to avoid it I'm really hoping I can get my car fixed its not written off. Looks like hood, fenders, headlights, bumper and windscreen. Car still drives...
Now over to the West Coast section to look around for a body shop

A deer is the reason I got my 996. Back in October I hit an 8 pointer on my motorcycle (Speed Triple, miss it). I had zero time to react as he sprinted across the road. Broke my collar bone, fractured some ribs, tore cartilage in my knee, sprained both thumbs, and I think my hip is a little screwed up. Anyway, I hate deer. Hope your 996 lives to see another day unlike my totaled bike.

Deer are always a threat, but especially so in matting season when they move around a lot more. About 15 years ago I had a friend who hit a buck. It totaled his car and he was hospitalized. Happy that the OP was not injured. Cars are easy to repair, not so with humans.

Glad you're OK and hope your car is fixable.
I hate deer here where I live--they have no natural predators left and they have pretty much overrun the area. My step son hit a deer and totaled his car so my wife got a new car and gave him her hand-me-down. She had the new car 2 days and I was driving us to dinner and another freaking deer jumped out in front of us. There was car right next to me so I couldn't swerve. I slammed on the brakes and ended up not hitting it that hard, but still had $4000 damage. Argh!

Glad no one was hurt. Stands a good chance of working out as a total. But, you probably will have the option of retaining the salvage at a cost. That might also make sense if you can source enough used parts & make a solid repair of it. Good luck.

Glad you're okay. That's some scary stuff. My guess is that the car is totaled - unless you make out like Cuda did and not only get the car fixed, but get millions of dollars and a 991.
My car needed a driver's door, a rear quarter panel, and a wheel. It came within a few dollars of the insurance company totaling the car. The full retail on the headlights alone are about $7k, I'm not saying you can't get them for less, but that may factor into the insurance company's decision.
