All US cars since 96 have an ODB-2 (On Board Diagnostic) connector usally under the dash on the drivers side. There are a number of ODB-2 readers that can show what "Check Engine" codes are set and reset them them directly. I use a cable that connects to the serial port of my laptop along with a software program but there are a number of handheld devices available for under $100. The Porsche System tester uses this same plug and can do many other things. Unfortunately it costs about $10K so you won't find it in my garage.

Regarding the Avatar, Try to think outside the box, I mean sphere. Who needs roads if you have air or water and can float though space just above the rooftops. 0-60MPH in 2.8 seconds (free fall in air). Slower on Mars!
I was trying to think of something unique, but maybe this item is a bit too unique and distracting. It probably would just arouse too much curiosity so maybe I should change it to something more conventional like a nice Pic of my C4. What do you think?
