Door won’t open
I had the two rear tires replaced today after discovering f a slow leak due to a bolt in one and getting close to the visible wear indicators in both. All well there, but when I got home to pick up the wife to go someplace else, when she to open the passenger door, it would not open. No budging, nada. Yes I tried to lock and unlock it, but that made no difference. The dash mounted switch shows no sign of life so maybe that is the culprit. All fuses look intact. Any suggestions?
I plan to pull the dash door lock switch from the GT3 to see if it works in the 996 as a way of troubleshooting that aspect.

Does the door open from the handle inside the door? If so, there is a j-shaped plastic piece with a sliding sleeve that often becomes detached which can usually be reconnected (and is cheap to replace, if damaged). You would need to pull the inner door panel to get to it.

Push the door closed with some force (even though it's already closed) so the lock will engage internally. It could've been that somebody tried to open the door right as they unlocked the car, in some rare cases my door-latch got 'stuck' halfway - so the handles wouldn't do anything but the door wouldn't open either.
Pushing it back snug made the lock re-engage and then the handles had grip on the internal mechanism again.

Drivers side door responds to key fob command, which is why I didn’t notice anything amiss when I got in the car and drove it home. It is the passenger door which will not open or otherwise respond to the external or internal door lever door lock swtich(key fob), although I do hear the mechanism clunking.
