Default Press Release for 996 Power Kits Carrera & Turbo

When it can be more, "Exclusive" makes it happen

Porsche 911 Carrera and 911 Turbo – More Powerful Than Ever

Stuttgart. Porsche‘s "Exclusive" individual program for the 911 Turbo and 911 Carrera models offers far more in performance and power reserves than a sports car from Zuffenhausen does already.

The Powerkit increases the 911 Turbo’s engine performance from 420 hp (309 kW) at 5,000 rpm to 450 hp (331 kW) at 5,700 rpm. The maximum torque, which has simultaneously increased to 620 Nm (series: 560 Nm), is now available at 3,500 to 4,400 rpm. The maximum torque value of 560 Nm, already offered by the series engine at between 2,700 and 4,600 rpm, is available in the power-enhanced 911 Turbo at between 2,700 and 5,600 rpm. So its power can be called upon in an extremely wide range of revs. An unchanged acceleration speed of 0 to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds thus increases the maximum speed from 305 to 307 km/h.

Porsche engineers achieved the increase in power and performance through modifications to the Turbo charger, the change air cooler, the control units and exhaust system in particular. The base constructions of the manual and automatic transmissions were also improved so that the power increase can also be ordered for the 911 Turbo Tiptronic at the recommended price of 12,644 Euro (price in Germany, inclusive of VAT). Its maximum speed has increased from 298 to 300 km/h with a reduction in the acceleration speed by almost a half a second to 4.5 seconds for 0 to 100 km/h.

The 911 Carrera’s Motorkit increases the engine power from 320 hp (235 kW) to 345 hp (254 kW) at an unchanged 6,800 rpm and a maximum torque of 370 Nm at 4,800 rpm. Power is added by the modified alloy shift induction system, modified cylinder heads and new exhaust manifold, as well as adjustments to the control units, which, for example, improves the 0 to 100 km/h acceleration by a tenth of a second, from 5 to 4.9 seconds, and even increases the 0 to 200 km/h acceleration by a whole second to 16.5 seconds. The maximum speed has increased from 285 to 290 km/h.

Porsche is only offering the Powerkit for the manual transmission Carrera. The non-binding price recommendation is 9,628 Euro in Germany (inclusive of 16 per cent VAT).

What is " modified alloy shift induction "?

Sounds made up

Wonder if they mean cams with cylinder head, the cylinder head is supposed to flow very well already?

I'd have to agree with Imo000. Another 25 HP on my 02 would be nice its just not worth 10K to do it. I'd prefer using that 10K plus a few more thousand and getting a 997.1 S which has 355HP.

Sorry I should have included the date on this release, This Press release was when the 996 was being produced. $10K is on the production line option, If I remember, it cost 23 K to have it added at dealer.
